Catch Up

Hey guys,

Long time I know anyway this is going to be one long ass post to fill in all the gaps since the last post well most of them, I am way too lazy and suffer from crap memory to go through everything.

Ok first things first a quick update. Ok after 100 interviews and test days which are still going on :( I finally have a temporary Job with a advertising agency, they have me on a 2 month trial but I am still looking at other companies at the same time. Oh while I am on this topic I had my first ad printed on Sunday in the newspaper full back page ;)

So as I was saying since the last post I have been job hunting and hard, there has been numerous interviews almost had a job in the 3rd week of being here but the company turned out to be wankers that ended up just playing me around, long story but the good news is I have been working for this other company now for just under 3 weeks and don't even ask about the pay it will give you a heart attack no seriously it will.

Ok on to more interesting things that I have been listing up the past few weeks.

Firstly i have to introduce you all to my good friend I'm not sure what hes name is or then again if he is even a he or a she but I have decided his name is Charlie.

lol I met him in the loo, man ill tell you the loo here is cursed or something for me man I end up in the weirdest of situations there. Like meeting Charlie and growing our friendship or another freaky scenario was while doing a number to the electricity went and believe me makes for a very awkward situation.

I have started cooking every Saturday just as my way of trying to help out surprisingly we are all currently still alive and healthy although I wise enough to make everyone sign a disclaimer form first you know how it is always look out for number 1. Anyway so for my first night I cooked up a Chicken Tikka feast with salad, mint sauce and paratha's (not sure of the spelling but that will do).

Now on to the more fun stuff the inside gossip on Mu and its inhabitants. I hope you all remember me telling you before how people are dropped off on the side of the motorway or even picked up. Well I found an even more interesting story and this time with pics :). Ok so let me set the scene I'm at the bus stop waiting for my bus obviously and I see this car parked up at on the side of the motorway, yes motorway not hard shoulder because they don't exist here just like pavements, ok so there's a woman standing next to the car but nobody is inside. Moving forward 5 minutes and some guy walks past me with two drink bottles in his hands, you know the 2ltr coke bottle types. He goes to the car pops open the fuel cap and starts pouring in petrol from these drink bottles, now i know why there is no AA service here.

Lol this next one I had just had to mention the pic is lame but its the best I could get, anyway while I was taking a interview with a company I happened to be on a floor which also had a call centre and I couldn't resist but have a look. All I can say is this whole building of roughly 10/15 floors was full of these call centres.

Finally last note is the public transport which can be quite cheap but not always seeming as the ticket inspectors charge you what to me seems to be whatever they are in the mood for. I have been taking the bus to work for over 2 weeks to work an even now i get charged different amounts every day for every trip even those don't actually change, that's not even the worst bit check this out for some reason the bus routes here go in circles I mean literally double backing on areas it has already covered 5 minutes earlier. Once I was going to an area called Quatra Borne which should have taken me around 20 minutes tops it took over 50 minutes.

Guess that's everything hope you all enjoy and ill check in on you all soon.

Later.

3 Down 1 to go

Bonjour,

Need to get my French back up to par even though everyone here does speak English too (fishuuu sigh of relief).

I forgot too mention yesterday on the way back from Pia's place we went to a tile shop to look for tiles for her new place and i saw the funniest thing ever. They had a normal cream toilet and sink set but designed with gold print trimmings and a choice of blue or green floral designs, like serious 1980's style reminded me of those old tissue box covers all our moms and cousins used to have in the house and the special ones would also put them in the back shelf of their cars. Lol then again i know they are still around but its funny to think this kind of thing is still seen as fashion im sure its our typical Asian lot. So yeah if anyone wants me to pick any up when i come back to England let me know before hand ;), ill try and take some pictures next time i go there.

As im sure you all remember my old Hong Kong emails would rant on about the locals well i thought its about time to start round two but mu style. So first weird thing i have seen so far is people randomly walking on the motorway there was actually one guy who stopped in the middle of his lane just to pick up his mobile and have a conversation before driving on.

So yes as for today's interview which was probably the most important one that i have planned to go to ended up much better than i expected. I should hear back soon enough from them and will keep everyone informed but i don't want to get to hyped up till all is set in stone :)

Day 3 or 4 not sure which its all a blur to me now

Hey All

Todays bog entry is abit random so jus keep with me i think the jet lag is seriously kicking in so we will put it down to that. Well i had an early start today for my interview which was more like a meeting anyway yea this one was interesting but will most likely be a second job either part time or freelance as it is currently a one man band. I also have another interview booked now for tomorrow so that will be number 3, this one is the big one though so fingers crossed. Also i forgo to tell you guys about the funny stuff the guy was saying to me in my first interview. Ok so i walk into his office shake his hand and sit down and then he busts out with "so imran.... present yourself to me" and im like erm excuse me and thinking what am i suppossed to stand up and do a little strip tease for him (visions of full monty) calm down ladies nothing happened ;).

Anyway to more interesting things before i loose every ones attention before i forget they have those little baby yellow lizards here like back in paki land (sorry buks i know u don't like it) also OMG they got these big ass snails here i will have to try and find one and take a big bloody gruesome.

So today has been very tiring even though i have done almost nothing (oh i feel the envy) just had my interview and then i went to Pia and Damians house (the cousons im staying with). I have added pictures of their house which is still being built well what they claim to be their house personally im sure you will all agree with me that it is more of a hotel than a house. Its still being built but man are they going to have an awesome pad once its done i have told them to adopt me so i can live it too (sorry as but man you would do the same lol).

Mauritius

Hey Guys

Yes your eyes are not fooling you and my travel diaries have returned once again for the enjoyment of the mass (well the 10 or so people i have added at least, so consider all yourselves to be specials buggers).

Just a quick heads up to those who are not up to date (see buks and abs u should at least be glad i told you even if it was last minute). I have once again done a runner from her Majesty's United Kingdom in search of work in Mauritius :), hence the return of the diary although this time thanks to a certain friend (you know who you are) i have chosen to go the way of the blog in the hope to try and make this diary more open and interesting for all.

Anyway enough of my gibberish and back to the important stuff. Ok so i arrived here on Saturday and have up until now more or less just chilled apart from my first planned interview which took place this morning anyway more details on that in abit, have to rub it in first about how beautiful mu (Mauritius) is know you suckers are back home :) lol don't worry i wont be that mean but I will say it is lovely here and I'm having a great time so far.

As for the interview it was for a advertising company and I think it went really well so lets see what happens none the less i still have more interviews planned for this week so fingers crossed.

Well guys I'm going to keep this first one short so you guys can take in all the info plus i am knackered and cant think of any more things to write so I'm sure when you all respond the questions will be flowing in :).
